Meet the coaching staff

Ryan Wall - Head Coach

Ryan is a native of Glasgow, Scotland and is currently a coach with West Virginia ODP and FC Alliance (WV). Ryan was a professional academy player with Bolton Wanderers F.C. (England), and played collegiately at NAIA powerhouse Rio Grande University (4-year starter and All-MOC Conference selection), where, as team Captain he helped lead them to the program’s first-ever MOC conference championship and Great Lakes Regional Tournament Final. After graduation Ryan spent three seasons on staff at Wheeling Jesuit University as coach Jim Regan’s top assistant, helping WJU to two regular-season titles and a WVIAC conference championship. Ryan earned USSF and English Football Association Coaching Licenses as well as Irish Football Association UEFA B Courses.

Greg Martin - Assistant Coach

Greg is the head men’s soccer coach at Linsly High School, Wheeling, WV. He is also a former four year staring goal keeper with Wheeling Jesuit University men’s soccer program. During his time at Wheeling Jesuit, Greg won two conference championships and his team reached the last sixteen of the NCAA Division II National Championships.

Sean Regan
Youth Development & Recruitment

Sean is Head Men’s Soccer Coach at NCAA Division 2 West Liberty University. As a player, he earned All-Conference honors on a pair of nationally-ranked squads while playing for Jim Regan’s (his father) Wheeling Jesuit D2 program. After graduating in 2005, Sean’s coaching career began as assistant at Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) where helped guide them to their first PAC title and NCAA Tournament berth in 2007. In 2008 he began an impressive 10 season span as Head Coach at Bethany College, leading the Bison to several post-season berths – including a run to the 2010 ECAC regional semifinals. For the Highlanders, Sean will focus on recruitment, training, development and mentoring of the youth players aged 16-18

James Regan
Technical Director of Soccer

James is one of America’s most experienced collegiate soccer coaches. James was named Wheeling University's head men’s soccer coach in 1983, and in his first season at the helm, the Cardinals finished 11-6 overall. He is responsible for elevating the men’s program to national prominence, with a top 20 ranking in 1999, 2000 and 2003 along with an Elite Eight appearance in the 2000 NCAA Division II National Tournament. The Belfast, Northern Ireland native instills in his players a sense of composure and patience for a possession-oriented, attractive style of soccer. His teams at Wheeling University generated 36 All-Americans, eight District Championships, seven Regional Titles, six WVIAC Championships and four National Tournament appearances. The five-time WVIAC Coach of the Year earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America’s Coach of the Year award after the 2000 season.

Regan has coaching certificates from UEFA, the USSF, the Canadian Soccer Association, and has been a member on the NCAA women’s national soccer committee. For the Highlanders, James will provide technical and tactical guidance to the coaching staff.
